Running a poll

  • Any signed-in member may create a poll. Pick a type: Yes/No or True/False, multiple choice (one or several), or ranked (all options or top N).
  • You write the prompt and the options up front. After votes exist, Edit offers three choices: leave votes as is (rename in place), replace with a new poll (hide this one and move ballots by option order), or erase all answers.
  • Changing your vote is welcome. Optionally say why; that stays with your ballot history until answers are erased or the poll is replaced.

Who can do what

  • Create and vote: any signed-in member who can see the poll.
  • Edit: author or poll mods, any time. After votes, pick how to handle existing answers when saving.
  • Delete (tombstone): poll mods and hub. Trash is under Admin.

Browsing

  • The left rail has three tabs: By tag (facets filter the main list via ?topic=), All users (authors with their polls, ?users=1), and Mine (your polls and compose, ?mine=1).
  • Mine (and the +) only show when you can create polls. Compose stays behind + on Mine.
  • Dice and clock open a random spotlight or newest list of polls you have not voted on. If you have voted on every open poll, they fall back to the full set with results. Poll prefs (gear beside help), or ?pick=random|latest.
  • Any signed-in member who can see a poll may vote. Results show only after you vote. Changing your mind is the point.

Who can see it

  • Public — everyone, signed in or not.
  • Members — anyone signed in on this origin. Guests get a login prompt.
  • Unpublished — you and the kind’s mods. Guests get a plain 404, so nothing leaks.
  • New items default to public. You can change it any time unless a mod locks it.
